Jon Bernie is a contemporary spiritual teacher in the lineage of Adyashanti. Jon’s first awakening experience at the age of sixteen led him to spend many years practicing in the Zen and Vipassana Buddhist traditions. In the late 1980s, Jon’s spiritual trajectory was profoundly altered when he met Advaita master Jean Klein, with whom he studied intensively for an extended period. Jon subsequently spent time with H.W.L. Poonja and Robert Adams, both direct disciples of Ramana Maharshi. Jon was asked to teach by Adyashanti in 2002.

Satsang includes silent sitting, a brief talk, and then a dialog during which attendees are invited to ask questions and work with Jon directly.

Movement medicine, a journey for all levels of movement and dance. Each lesson will inform your seated life, whether that involves working at a desk, riding a bike, motorcycle or horse, lounging on the patio, having a meal, painting your latest watercolor, or rocking a baby to sleep. A Gira is a spiritual work open to the public and based on the Afro-Brazilian tradition of Umbanda. During the ceremony, entities of light are received by initiated mediums to offer a blessing and energetic cleansing. These entities carry a spiritual wisdom which is associated with specific qualities of consciousness and Orixas (energies found in nature).

During the ritual, sacred rhythm, song and dance prepare the space for the mediums to invoke their spiritual guides. The public may consult the guides and receive the benefit of their wisdom for cleansing, balancing, harmony and blessings.

Templo Guaracy da Terra (TGT) is a spiritual, non-profit organization that follows the Afro-Brazilian tradition of Umbanda. TGT is affiliated with Templo Guaracy do Brasil (TGB) in São Paulo and has been in the Bay area since 1994.
